Yea so i want to upgrade my card considering the current one i have is only 128mb. i found this one at newegg.com. i think its a good deal, but i want to know if any of you think theres anything bad about it. This is preatty much about all the money im willing to spend on one though....

should save an extra 55 bucks (the other one is 165+5shipping while this is 225 free shipping)

the x800 im guessing is a considerable upgrade from probably what you have now but the x1900 is a decent step further and worth the money upgrade IMO when its only 225 now. and free shipping too.

that card is better than the 6600 but remember, if you run at resolutions of 1024 X 768 or lower, you will see very little (if any) difference between a 128 and a 256 meg card. If you run at 1024 I would still buy a 128 card to save money but get the highest Memory Interface you can 256-bit is the best out right now I believe.

theyre either mismarked or prolly pieces of sh*t. b/c sh*t you see in the stores is almost always more expensive than what you see on the net.

also, just b/c it has 512mb of ram dont mean its an AMAZING card. you have to look at the core clocks, memory speed, etc before you can make an educated decision on what card to buy. imo, for the reso you're running, get the card that i mentioned before and you'll be set for a long while.

If you are still looking for a new vid card - there is a really good round-up at anandtech.com. Check this review out:

http://www.anandtech...doc.aspx?i=2812

The X800GTO you linked to is PCI-E, so I'm assuming you have a PCI-E motherboard. If so, that's great. Check out the anandtech review. They have benchmarks for Half LIfe 2 - Episode One. That should give you a good idea for how those cards would perform on CS:S.

Also, stay away from big box stores for video cards. They charge an arm and a leg. I've seen a 9800Pro for like 299 in Canada. Its a five year old card and they still charge 300 bucks for it. You can pick up a 7900GT in Canada for about 340 now.
