This may be one of the best ideas ever. High end Graphics cards now adays comsume TONS of power. For a dual rig, you need a powersupply of 600 watts or more to feed it. How about dedicated external enclosures for your grapphics cards??

Apparently you could be able to use up to 32 of them for insane multi gpu performance. This would make upgrading as easy as getting another unit and not having to worry about power consumption on your box. Another fantastic idea is that you could plugg your laptop into your stand alond GPU enclosure and turn your portable workstation into a grapphics powerhouse.

What do you guys think??

Considering I went out and bought a $130 psu to replace my 430w thermaltake when I upgraded to a x1800xt, it would have been a cheaper upgrade (most likely) and a lot less of a headache for me.

Swapping out PSUs can be a pain in the nuts......

That is an amazingly good idea, but I bet if this kind of technology is released, it will be incredibly expensive for a while, until it's not so new and advanced anymore.

Id like to think that an enclosure like that wouldn't be all that expensive. (75-100 bucks???) All it is is a PCIe interface with a powersupply. Your CPU would still have to do all the work.

Now if they had dedicated CPUs as well..............

yeah i saw those a while ago. its a good idea i thought to myself first, espicially if you have a weak psu. but then again, its another thing to plug in and another cord to worry about. as long as my psu can hold whatever im doing, i'm cool with it. also, id rather shell out a couple of extra bucks to buy a more powerful psu anyways than to buy a card w/an external power supply which are madd expensive right now.
