Episode VII

Yes. The FANBOY.
Evidently, when Commie made a mini-rant in his story thread reply, the fanboy inside of him woke up and hit him with a bat. THe Commie you know and love isn't really wholly responsible for the content of this rant.
For example, Commie really did like Episode III.
George Lucas disappointed me SO MUCH.
Episode 1, 2, 3 = sh*ttastic. I loved the CGI and the battle scenes, and some of the backstory, and of course the ultimately awesome lightasber fights, but the love plotline made me wanna yak all over the screen. Is Lucas becoming some trashy love writer? About half of Episode III was Padme and Anakin getting mushy-eyed. Lucas seems to have forgotten that the fighting is what drew the original fans to the series- if it weren't for a strage chain of events, Star Wars would have just been another in a line of 80's B-movies. Lord knows the original graphics weren't anything new. Yet we loved them- I'm not saying I don't, and if you suggest that to me I will shove a red-hot golf club up your ass-, and somehow the thing took off into the greatest accidental franchise ever. Lord knows that Lucas was inventive with the original three, but were it not for the huge fan reaction you'd be hard-pressed to pull them out of the B-Movie mire of the 80's. I'm not razzing on the original films, though- I'm saying that Lucas has, in a way, forgotten why we love Star Wars.
He's gotten away with it so far, but LORD HELP HIM if he f*cks up even just Episode VII. The Expanded Universe- comics, games, books- is INSANELY EXTENSIVE, far beyond the scope of anything the directors could EVER hope to imagine. They should just base the new movies off the EU- there's enough material in some of the series runs alone for another whole trilogy *coughNewJediOrdercough*. And it won't help the franchise's history to have the EU timeline running on a different track from the movies that are going to be made in the timeline space that the EU already has taken over.
Basically, shoot the writers from the I/II/III and let the book people do the scripts. I would LOVE to see an X-Wing book line Movie.
*CRACK* Ungh......
...I think he's K.O.
Yeah, that was the side of me I don't show in public. He wanted to write, about, another three paragraphs, but I managed to hit him on the head with a cheap plastic lightsaber and knock him out. This is why I rarely discuss Star Wars.

That being said, if episode VII is made it will have to be based on the New Jedi Order series of books written by like 20 different people. I've read most of them, and they are really good. Absolutely NOTHING like episodes I,II,III! No these are dark books, all kinds of sh*t happening all over the place. They are almost alittle too dreary for my taste, but I think they'd make awesome movies.
There is one problem though. Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Lando etc they are all in those books. They are like senior citizens in real life now... Wouldn't make the movies very believable. That's why I don't think there'll be any continuation.
The material is there though, trust me. It would take at least 5 movies to chronicle all the events of the New Jedi Order and Young Jedi Knights series.

Anyway here comes my complaint. I didn't like episodes I-II-III.
aside from CG looked like really fake. They just destroyed the ultimate image of Vader in my mind. I always thought Vader joined to dark side for a ultimate cause like when defending his friends or family or something important. Like Luke's situation aganst his father in the throne room with Emperor. something dramatic and worthwhile. but it turns out Vader was a dumbass emo. There is nothing heroic about his shift of sides. Thanks Lucas, I still curse you for that.

As for the newere episodes, eh they're cool but nothing special. It's near impossible to make everyone happy making a movie nowadays, but as long as it makes a sh*tloada money, thats all the producers/directors are looking for

Problem is they didn'tThe crew that pulled off X3 used similar technology to make Professor X and Magneto appear younger in one of the scenes.
But I do see your point. It just wouldn't be the same without Harrison Ford.
