On that note check out the rest of the deals at tigerdirect.com. They are having some sort of summer overstock clearance sale.

Edit: Btw, I have that exact same router. It works really well. I have never had it drop a connection or anything.

Edit 2: I might buy THIS, so I can make THIS.

That noodle strainer antenna looks retarded. HAHA. I wouldnt think that something like that would would unless the strainer had a perfect parabolic shape. Dish antennas like that are engineered precisely so that all the signals are perfectly bounced off it and shot at the reciever.

If I was going to try something like that, I'd go get a sattelite dish and mount the USB antenna on the existing LNB. Id bet that would work pretty good......... :dork:

That router owns. I know because I have one. Linksys routers as of lately, are the ones that are sucking ass.

Oh and that antenna is awesome. I was reading on some other forums somewhere that it can actually go a couple of miles down the road. Depending on how you build it correctly. I thought about finding an old satellite dish and using that but idk.

all of the reviews i've read speak for themselves, linksys > netgear. i've ownd all linksys routers and one netgear router b4. the wireless on the netgear wasnt as powerful and crapped out on me a year after i had it. if a router is 20 bucks, it was made cheap. otherwise, they wouldnt be able to sell it at that price.

All routers from a company are not the same. Even if they have the same model number. Linksys for example has routers that go from version 1 to version 6 of the same router. Linksys changed the firmware on their recent wireless routers. Beginning with version 5 they changed to a different firmware. The new firmware sucks ass. It loses connections all the time and other random problems. Trust me I have owned new and old linksys routers.

The reason they changed the firmware is because you were able to "hack" the old router because it was running a versions of linux. Meaning you could actually put a completely different firmware on it. Making the router able to broadcast up to a mile. You could also change a few other things about the way it works. You can still hack the newer routers, but its a lot longer process and not really worth it. A normal person would not know how to do this and would just return the router.

So with that said, I bought a version 5 linksys router not to long ago. It was complete sh*t. So I bought the netgear that I linked to. It has never dropped or lost a connection to the internet. I have had it for over 2 months now. The linksys would lose connection at least 10 times daily. The reviews you are reading are more than likely from linksys fanboys.

Careful with Tigerdirect. They kind of suck balls. Other than that, I'm staying out of the brand war for routers.
