So my chipset cooler has been dying for awhile now. (My only complaint with my MSI mobo) I found this REALLY KICKASS cooler:

Too bad My 1800xt is sitting right over the northbridge cooler and I cant fit hardly ANYTHING in there as far as descent coolers go. Does anyone have any suggestions/reccomendations??

I replaced the chipset fan on my MSI motherboard once.. next time it died.. I bought an ATI chipset motherboard that has NO FAN. :1:

I'll take a look but there is a limited aftermarket Chipset cooling fan market out there.

Some places to check

http://www.zalmanusa.com/ - seems to offer some heatsinks for Northbridge cooling

http://www.vantecusa...ct-cooling.html - offers some VGA/chipset fans

Yeah sorry for extra post.. having a hard time with my connection right about now..

My first choice would be one of the Zalman "flower" type ones as Id prefer to go passive, but unfortunately I cant cuz I have next to no clearance. I may still be able to use the ole dremel and mofify the Zalman one. If not those vantec ones are low profile so I may go with one of those......

Check some reviews of the vantec ones before you buy.. they are VGA/Chipset coolers.. I'd be worried about fitment. Just to make sure they will fit. :1:

lol SHLONKY! i had to do the same thing about 2 months ago. funny thing is, i got the exact same chipset cooler as you mentioned. it works great and fits fine even w/my long ass graphics card sticking out. installation wasn't hard.. installing my zalman fan on my gpu was more of a pain in the ass

here's some pics of installing it:

f*ckin msi fan crapped out and started making tornado sounds inside my case

other than that, i love my mobo

Thanks for the screenshot. I have very similar mobo layout to you. However my x1800xt wont fit. By the looks of it; not even close.

Kinda expensive, but its thin, it was designed for SLI systems Thermalright Similar one

Im currently running this one on my DFI, Its really loud at full speed, but the motherboard controls it so its silent. My 7900GT just touches it, but it has no impact on preformance. Evercool

There was one more that was designed for SLI systems not too long ago that moved the cooler out of the way, but I cant seem to find it anymore.
