I got a five meg service for 40 bucks a month

I live out in the sticks, so that's the best I'll be able to do for a while.

I really can't complain about the speeds, as I only pay $17 a month.

that's not a very good test... lost.

That means you are getting about 8mbit down.... which is about a third of the 24mbit they advertise.

Mine fluctuates, as cable does, it typically gets between 8 - 11 mbits / second (10 advertised)

I'm supposed to have 2.5 mbit down but it works like 5 mbit, so I can't complain on the speed. Although my upload sucks dick.
When Sprint switched name to Embarq I got upgraded for free from 500/500 to 5000/500 so again, I shouldn't complain. But the connection is so unstable sometimes, I can't even browse the internet

I have Road Runner by Time Warner Cable (Thanks for um...helping keep the service up in New York Shlonky) and I'm promised 5mbit down/384kbit up.

But on a shared WiFi connection...usually 3.8-4.5 megs down.

Just to let you guys know any speed test that you do thats offnet is terribly inaccurate. Cable shouldn't fluctuate too much assuming the signal levels to your modem are good and theres no packet loss.

Example: Connect to the BoSS Servers and get a ping of 30, then connect to a server thats somewhere halfway across the world and get a ping of 100.

That speedtest says that my connection is about 25% lower that it actually is.

Try testing your connection on a speedtest site thats on your ISPs backbone.
