Soilwork is pretty much the sh*t.Melodic:
In Flames
Soilwork
Notice something similar about these videos? These bands are good friends hehe
...and my favorite!
Dark Tranquillity
Brutal:
Kataklysm
Vital Remains (bad sound)
BloodBath <-- these guys don't make videos, so all I can find is AMV bs, just listen to the song and ignore the video.
Any way, if you want some alternative check out Monty Are I or theAudition.
Some good heavier stuff would be like Bury Your Dead, Between the Buried and Me, and if you like Pirates, check out Scurvy. (pirate metal.)
If you like hardcore (more screaming) check out some stuff by Horse the Band, Bane, From Autumn to Ashes, and Evergreen Terrace. (Evergreen Terrace has a cover of mad world which many of you can recognize from the Gears of War trailer)

I don't really care for music that hits you over the head with noise at all times. That bores me. I just listen to something different in my music than you do. Simple doesn't always mean bad. Oh and just to be an ass: You spelled Valhalla wrong in your sig
I agree simple doesn't mean bad, but it can't be so light that it puts you to sleep. If you listen to the melodic section I posted you'll find that the music is quite similar to the bands in your list, except they have a, let's say ... darker tone of voice It probably blows most of your bands out of the water in way of musicianship anyway
Oh and Valhalla is just the English spelling of the Swedish word Valhall. Good point though, I don't know why they use the Swedish word in a song that's sung in English... It does sound cooler though (pronounced Vaal-hall)
Can't find a decent version of the song on youtube, but it's Amon Amarth - Valhall Awaits Me

(I'll post my tat when I get a chance)
Oh and speaking of In Flames the new live CD is out which is great. They are amazing live although they haven't been to strong as of late with there last few cds.

I prefer Valhalla (as in how Led Zep says it in "Immigrant Song"). Really, though, I listen to more classic rock than anything else. If you don't like blues-based rock and roll then we are operating on separate wavelengths. I try not to judge other people's music (unless it's commercialized BS poppy type sh*t).

God damn! Here's a guy who knows what it's all about!
At least when it comes to bands like Arch Enemy, KsE, SYL, Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Death, Exodus, Korpiklaani, Meshuggah and Opeth! Bravo!
And DB, as a Deftones fan you're hardly in any position to talk shit about Soilwork :-P

Frag - that list is just a compilation of metal bands that both Aethryl and I listen to but there's a lot more - those are just favorites :P
If you like Arch Enemy, Bodom, SYL, Amon Amarth, Death, Opeth and whatnot you should definitely check out Sigh. I could hook you up with a few songs. I think youd dig them. They're experimental black metal. They were one of the first acts signed to Euronymous's (from Mayhem) label back in the day.
I'll take melodic death metal like Soilwork over ANY nu metal any day haha
