I have actually seen/held/played with one of these coins. It was a quarter that felt lighter than normal. Upon closer examination if came apart. Someone was able to filet the quarter and hollow out the inside. Anyway it was my friends dads. so out of curriosity he called the treasury dept.
Well the next morning he was promptly visted by our friendly local FBI, who confiscated the quarter to turn it over to the treasury dept. They thanked him for his help and he was out $.25
it was really cool.

This is pretty weird though. Isn't the range of RFID less than 100 feet?
Sounds kind of goofy to me. Perhaps a hoax of some sort, or perhaps the government is trying to distract us from this crazy SURGE ON bullsh*t in Iraq by vilifying canadians. Next week we'll see Condo Rice at UN talking about Stephen Harper's WMD's.

The FBI guy said that it could easily fit a computer chip in. basically they had cut the inside out of a quarter and that is f*cking amazing.
