Hey do any of you know how to increase your frame rates, im pretty sure that it has to do more so with your video card and the settings on it, but im just curious, cuz i think i only get about 20 fps in the game, and that blows.

That config is fine and dandy for squeeking out every last frame but your game will look like shit if you turn everything off. Post your graphics settings cuz turning off shit like AA and AF will boost your fps more than the nit picky stuff.....

This is a pretty sweet performance boost I found on another web site a long time ago, saved to my computer and now directly copied here. Enjoy:

"I decided to make my on tweaking guide it gave me a boost of about 20 - 45 fps depending what level you play. First run your video stress test in game and record your fps then do it after the you put in the tweaks if you want to see the difference in performance.
1) First when you boot up your steam game manager right click on counter strike source then go to the launch options tab at the bottom. On the command line write -dxlevel 81 (IMPORTANT it changes you to use direct x 8.1 only on the game which is reported to be much faster. . . if you want to change back simply input
-dxlevel 90 in the line.)
2}Now open notepad and copy and paste all below until number 3:

cl_cmdrate 101
cl_interp 0.01
cl_interpolate 1
cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1
cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_updaterate 101
cl_smooth 1
rate 25000
r_teeth 0
rope_averagelight 0
rope_smooth 0
rope_subdiv 0
rope_wind_dist 0
mat_hdr_level 0
mat_hdr_enabled 0
cl_ejectbrass 0
cl_phys_props_enable 0
cl_phys_props_max 0
fog_enable 0
mat_bumpmap 0
mat_clipz 0
mat_specular 0
mp_decals 150
r_decal_cullsize 1
r_lod -4
r_propsmaxdist 1000
r_rainradius 0
r_rainsimulate 0
r_rainsplashpercentage 0
r_3dnow 1
cl_crosshairscale 1400
fps_max 120
r_eyegloss 0
r_mmx 1
r_sse 1
r_sse2 1

3)Name the file autoexec.cfg and place it in Steam\SteamApps\your email address\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg. Thats all. Please share your performance increases with everyone."
