hey i have a problem it takes 15-20 minutes to download all the sounds to your servers and every time i connect they re download, also when map resets i have to re download them. What can i do so i don't have to download those sound every time i connect. Are they being deleted for some weird reason? Any help would be appreciated.

That shouldn't happen. They must not be saving where they are supposed to go. I'd say reinstall but I dunno?

nah i was over at his house... and everytime he joins the server... its as if he has never been on css before and he has to download everything over again... all the sounds... the map... its really wierd

That does sound pretty f*cked up right here. Might as well just reinstall man... I've had to do that once because somehow CSS got corrupted and my minimap wasn't showing up at all. It just disappeared one day... After I reinstalled it's been fine though. It doesn't take that long to reinstall anyway. If that doesn't work I would say ask someone who knows more about troubleshooting this kind of stuff than the average nub like me.

lmao i talked to him... lazy son of a b*tch doesnt wanna try reinstalling his css...

anyone have any suggestions? cuz this really messes up our gameplay.. cuz i end up having to leave and he just gets on cuz of his downloading

If he ever wants to play CSS tell him not to be a lazy bastard and just reinstall... Can't take more than 20 mins. And I don't think you have to completely install HL2 either.

lol not lazy but yeah i reinstalled css and it didn't help at all, hmm disappointing. Any other suggestions i take.

Well try deleting the sounds folder in your cstrike folder.

in cstrike folder, delete everything except cfg folder, launch game and see if that fixes it.

I reinstaleed it twice 1 time only css second time i deleted my whole steam and still no good. I figured a way that could work but i would need someone help. If someone could zip or rar the sound folder and upload it to megaupload.com i could download it put it in there and that should help it out hopefully. So yeah if anyone could do that, that has the sounds from boss servers it would be nice.

chmod -R +rwx /valve

hehe or in windows terms...

make sure the subdirectories in your valve folder aren't set to read only?

if that doesn't work, my next question, if you alt tab when your in game and goto the folder, do you see the files in there?

For some reason they were i will check them off and try one more time hope that thanks and also when i alt tab they are not there.

I have a problem now making it not read only. I right click properties and uncheck read only. Then i click apply and then ok. Then i right click again and it's still read only. hmmm I hate this lol and yeah hopefully someone can still zip those sound files for me to check if that works.

You should look up the command to stop dl'ing sounds unless u really want them... i'll post it if i get the command
