Ok here are my 3dmark scores.... Well I thought my score would be pretty good but alas my computer is... less than good. Either my graphics card or cpu is killing my system... or ehh both. Im just trying to decide which to replace or instead to go say screw it and buy a quad core mobo/cpu...... (I can upgrade to a E6700 dual core duo max)

3DMark Score 2054 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score 1096
CPU Score 818

CPU: Intel Celeron D CPU 3.46GHz
GPU: RADEON X850 Series

I usually get about 30-40 fps in CS Source with full settings on 1440X900 but man it seems as though my computer is pure junk from this point of view...

Any idea what I should do?

I edited your post to removed the unneeded stuff, but uh, I'd probably say a full upgrade would do you some justice, that x850 isn't a bad card but with all your hardware, its 2-3 generations behind, even a dual core 6300 would work for you at this point.

Right now im looking at a Dual Core E6600. Its the best cpu i can get for my motherboard. I cant get it for about $180. its not bad speed wise but you are right about everything else. The X850 is a good card its just getting old now. It still runs like a champ, in fact i got it factory replaced due to an issue with the card about 8 months ago (ty warranty). I forgot to mention but im running 2 GB's of OCZ Platnium (DDR 400) Nothing compared to today but its still fast. I do like the motherboard I have though. It supports DDR1 and DDR2, AGP/PCI-E. There is a newer one that supports the Quad core which im looking at so I can still use my gaming ram I have now, but as most things go; one thing at a time. I love games but im not hardcore when it comes to gaming and Im not rich so im just trying to find the best option for the time being. Do ya think the E6600 is worth it or just say screw it and stop upgrading what I got and go with a new system? I hate upgrading... Oh and thanks for editing my post, most of that stuff was jiberish to me.

Easier to just overhaul the entire damn thing instead of upgrading piece by piece, new mobo, gfx, psu, w/e else.

ROFL that Celeron is your problem... those things NEVER work as hard as they are claim to do. Worst brand of processor EVER.

Dual core E6600 should make one hell of a difference. You probably won't need to get a new GPU imo, unless you're itching to make it into a DX 10 rig, which at this point really is not justified.

my 2 cents.

LOL i know, that 512 cache SUCKS.... I got a horrible score on the cpu benchmark... OH and im bidding on a new E6700 Dual Core Duo... Its almost as good as the 6800 extreme edition. I could buy that uber extreme edition but man thats a waste of money. I did some research on that cpu I got and man does it suck balllls... Thats whats killing my system big time. I just bought this motherboard/cpu combo like 2 months ago and yes it was cheap but actually the motherboard was most of the money. That Celeron was like... $10..... So If I get that E6700 ill be doin a whooooooooooooooooooooole lot better. Then later on ill ditch the X850. Surprisingly when I overclocked the x850 it ROCKED. haha it lifted my fps by about 20 or so (it comes with that ATI overdrive from the factory so it makes it easy to over clock). I hope I can get that cpu or a 6600.

Yeah the E6600 CPU score is higher than your overall score right now lol... so it would be a huge improvement...

I just bought a new E6700 for $170. I think I made off pretty good as far as the price goes. Gota love ebay :) Now... this cpu might last me a couple of months... then time for another upgrade........ heh better last damn 4 years for that much money. I like how the dual cores use alot less energy btw. Keeps the heat down in the case and the power bill... heh.

Popular pcu, I think mad has one and has oc'd the sh*t out of it....but ebay?...good luck with that.

BTW, what mobo do you have?

If you get a new mobo, I just built a new system with an ASUS Commando and it kicks ass.

2nd the "What mobo do you have"

the e6700 should be fantastic. Don't expect the best OCing chip (poor OCing is often why they go up on ebay). You should be able to get at least 3.2 on it, though given a decent motherboard/ air cooling. The cel-Ds were kind of power hogs compared to the new core2s. You should enjoy it!

I have an Asrock Dual VSTA mobo. As far as price goes it was pretty cheap so I dont expect mind blowing performance. I LOVE it though. Very flexable when it comes to hardware. Eventually if I have enough money ill up the ram though this DDR400 flyssss. I cant wait to see the difference in cpu power. Probably like 100 times faster. The only thing is that its not a gaming board and i also only have DDR. On top of that I still have my ageing X850 XT. I think after this cpu im not upgrading any more. I got a 3000GT SL to worry about fixing and the Army and have spent way too much time on this stupid pc. I think ill be very happy with that dual core.

I had an old ASRock Dual Sata2 (939-based with PCI-X and AGP. Upgrade slot for AM2) and it actually overclocked fairly well (almost as well as my A8N-SLI Deluxe, in fact). There is still hope. :D
We'll see when your chip arrives
Mad- What clocks is your 8800GTS at to get that 3dmark score? Also what cooling? Your mem is above what mine will achieve, for sure, but 3dmark doesn't display 8800 core freqs right.

Well aside from the X6800 the 6700 is fairly good for over clocking though I dont do that much. The nice thing is my graphics card comes with ATI overdrive and that bosted my fps by 10 when only pushing the card light to moderate. So that cpu and decent graphics should help. I know CS: Source and Team Fortress two will run flawlessly. Cant wait for TF2...
