Okay, this one is really annoying me. Seemingly at random, images are either showing up as all white (and then black when I zoom in) or partially blacked-out. This just started happening after I reinstalled DirectX, so maybe it's related to that. Help?

Have you recently installed a new driver?

If that means what I think it means, then yes.

Well, what do you think that means?

Try restoring your computer to a time before you installed the drivers and directx, it worked for me when I had similar problems.

Well, this is interesting. My problem has been solved, but I have no idea why.

I like having my resolution at one higher than the normal, at 1280x1024 or whatever the specific number is. I kept getting this error message when I tried launching Civ 4 that my screen res was wrong, so I set it down to 1024x780.

This not only fixed my Civ 4 problem, but my images are all coming in clear again. No idea.

Ah well, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, and the resolution change is no biggie. Thanks for the advice.

Perhaps you set your resolution higher, or to some unsupported setting, then your graphics card can handle.
