Assassin's Creed kicks unbelievable amounts of ass. It's one of the coolest games that I've had the pleasure of playing in a long, long while. If you have a 360 or a PS3, do yourself a huge favor and pick it up. It's well worth it.

Is it a rent or a buy? I was a bit disappointed that all the reviews for Assassin's Creed didn't agree with each other. Some people say it's great others say it's mediocre.

I noticed that as well. Lots of the review sites seem to have majorly different opinions. But after another trip to Gamestop today I can say confidently that the public is loving it. There was a pretty damn big group of us in there today going on and on about how much ass it kicks.
It's VERY open. I'm probably not as far into the game as I could be at this point, I'm having too much fun running around town stabbing innocent people and getting into street brawls with the guards. You're a skilled assassin in this game, but unlike most stealth games you can more than hold your own in a straight up brawl. And the combat is just fun, and feels very satisfying. Something about throwing a guard off the top of a building and watching his body bounce limply in the street below just never seems to get old.
If you like action games at all, I'd say buy this damn thing without a doubt. You won't regret it.

so wait...You actually went back to a video-game store for a multiple time during a single day where you met up with a semi-goth semi-nerdy group that spends its time hangin out for a long period of time within or around to store talkin about certain games? Not tryin to be rude or a smartass, but thats unheard of from where I'm from. I mean, why not just stay at home and have fun playin the amazing games or cuttin your wrists or some such...??? And to define 'public' as the group of people who actually go to a Gamestop to hang out might be a wee bit biased (I mean, i don't go to the voting polls to damn all politics in an fiery rage, spouting my own political veiws... *mental note: go through with the above*). From what I've seen and heard, though, you seem to be right in that its an amazingly beutiful game that is certainly seeming to earn the majority of the postive praise which brings me to --
Another thing: The games website has a 'PC' logo but all i can find through advertisements and the games-availability are 360 and PS3 boxes (along with - dare i say - Nintendo DS). The little bit of info that ive seen seems to point towards the PC release being sometime around Feb. '08. Wtf mate? So sad for the developers to actually make the release to the consoles a priority... ...Wanna sell me your 360 zeke/kill? (assuming once there fixed, of course)

First of all, I went back 'cause the first time I went in I meant to trade in a game I was lookin' to get rid of.. I forgot, so I just stopped by there again on my way back from work. It was the topic of conversation already when I entered the door. Everyone in the place (and there was a lot of 'em) was talking about how much they love the game, as did everyone they know that's played it, such as forum buddies and the like. That's a big web of people, hence my use of the world "public". ((Edit: It should also be noted that I've looked over the scores that lots of reader reviews have given it. That was also a factor in my saying that, but I didn't mention it 'cause I honestly didn't imagine anyone would get so anal over me saying it.)) And nice use of all the labels there, goth and nerdy. Wrist cutting.. Just wow. There wasn't a person in there that didn't sound like your average joe, not one. Overly assumptious much?

An atempt at humor. Seemingly a Fail. No hard feelings meant by it, bro.

Ugh, I don't know whether to get Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect a few days from now.
I'd go with Mass Effect. Assassin's Creed is a rental for me.

Tonight at midnight I'll get my hands on Rock Band though.. and my life as I know it will be over.
Now, I stare at the clock and wait... 'Cause I'm a nerd like that.
Yo Evil, I got your PM and everything.. No hard feelings man. I shouldn't respond to posts when I'm running on 2 hours of sleep and already very grumpy to begin with. So yeah no worries, let's just forget it even happened.
