I was thinking about upgrading from my x1300, I want an nvidia card.

I was looking into getting an 8600gts from msi/newegg for $130 (after rebate)

Then I found an 8800gt for $130 locally on craigslist.

Should I just wait until after Christmas? Will I save any money?

What would you guys do?

Don't get the 8600... You'll get better performance from a 7600...

If you upgrade, you want to go for an 8800GT, the performance you get for the price is pretty beast...

The only problem with the 8800GT is finding one in stock.. so if you can get one go ahead and do it...

The 8800GTS 512 will be coming out soon though... It's going to use the same core thats in the 8800GT (G92) and will be pretty badass, but a little more expensive than the GT.. So you can either wait for that or go ahead and get the GT

8800GT is the way to go imo. But they are sometimes hard to come by. One of my friends bought the last one @ newegg. As far as he said they are out of stock. I think the prices will stay about the same. I could be wrong.

8800 gt is the best bang for your buck, especially at that price.

I just got a 512 mb GT for $180 shipped. it beats out the $400 GTS on every benchmark out there.

This is the best bang-for-your-buck card EVER.

So the 8800gt locally for $130 is a good deal? It's used.

You can buy a brand new MSI 8800GT 512MB new one for about $210.00. Just make sure you have a sufficient power supply if you get one.

Dell was selling them for that price. The sale is not longer on. The card was a MSI GeForce 8800GT PCI Express 512MB Video Card for $208. I Think it ended the end of November.
