Yeah my 9800 Pro definately kept its own for the 3 1/2 years I had it. Good series of cards for sure.

But yeah gl with getting a new rig. Then again Christmas is just around the corner, so you might be able to get one pretty soon.

If you already have the case, power supply(atleast a 350 - 400 watt of decent quality, Hipro's, or OEM power supplies need not apply) harddrive, and optical drives. You can get a decent rig for a quarter of that.


For 175$ WITH shipping you can get:

AMD Athlon X2 4000+
Motherboard
2 GB DDR2 800 Memory

Will overclock with the stock heatsink to 2.8 no problems. Get a decent aftermarket can probably get it up to 3.0 - 3.4, I recently bought a combo of this myself, currently running at 3.38 ghz stable. Up from the stock 2.1 ghz, that is pretty damn good! With it being only 60$ for the processor it is a nice deal.


For another 100$ get a 8600 GT, or equivalent card and you have a nice system for 300$ Obviously this is all provided you have the other parts such as the case and such.
