This is probably going to sound like an incredibly retarded question, but between the following video cards, which is better? A Radeon X1600 or a Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT? Ignoring whether it's AGP or PCI or PCI-E because that's not important at the moment, which of those two cards is the better one? I don't need referalls to better cards either. I am simply looking to know, out of the two cards I just listed, which performs better?

Well, in benchmarks on Half-life. The x1600 can't even keep up with nividas 6800 GS.

So then the 8500 GT is quite a bit better, huh? Thats what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure.

Comparing the fillrates of the X1600 XT versus the 8500 GT, put aside the numerous different models of the cards. The X1600 would be the better buy of the two.

If he buys the Pro version of the X1600, it will be on par with the 8500 GT. With the x1600 pulling ahead in some benchmarks.

Even though both cards are anemic in terms of 3d performance in any game. I would save your space dollars and drop it on a more mid range level card.

Well actually, here's my situation. It might make it easier for you guys to help me out. I have the Radeon X1600 right now. I have an opportunity to get a Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT. Should I get it or keep my X1600?

All right. Thanks for the help guys. I'll stick with what I've got. I need to actually learn about this sh*t so I don't end up making some stupid and costly decisions later haha.
