I can attest to their durability first hand. Ambulance garage bought 5 of these from me to equip in their ambulances for onsite patient info entering and random paperwork to be done. They are about 5 years old now. They've been dropped from the cab which is a good 4-5' to solid pavement and they just pick it up like nothing has happened and continued working.
Besides the cosmetic scratches on the outside not one has died. I did have to send one back though as it was having difficulty charging, but I attest that to a factory defect that is inevitable when something is mass produced.
Even had one of them leave it on the hood of a state patrol car while they were attempting to extricate a survivor from a vehicle crash in the pouring rain for over an hour while on.
These things are tough as nails!
If you have the money, I wholeheartedly recommend these to anyone looking for a rugged laptop that WILL last 4-5+ years without having to worry about repairs.

But would you look cooler wearing a bunch of laptops on yourself? Everyone would run away in fear from the laptop man!

You can get a good vest like Point Blank or PACA for 600-800...however, if you modified the trama plate pouch on the chest you could probably slide the tough book in that.hmm whats more expensive? Toughbook, or kevlar vest?
