As I'd say I'm from Québec before saying I'm Canadian, perhaps. Although UK is in Europe, otherwise on which continent would it be? That's the part I don't get.. Are British people denying that UK is in Europe? Because, sure they will call themselves English/Scottish/... before saying they're European, but they still are European.. no?You can be British without being English, but you can't be English without being British. English refers to being born in England, British refers to being born in either England/Wales/Scotland/Northern Ireland.
But I can see where Main is coming from. For example, if you met someone who was French (France kind, not Canadian) they'll say they're French not European, even though both is true. Saying you're British makes you relate to the Welsh/Scottish/Irish, and a LOT of English don't like doing that. So we call ourselves English as opposed to British to stay true to our country.

I was only going from what you posted in this topic, the "Boom" gave me the impression that you thought something was just proven.

Lol the UK is in Europe, we don't deny that.
Another example, by the way, which Duba said last night, was if you guys called yourselves North American, rather than American. Calling yourselves American does relate you to South America in a way since its so broad.

The only reason we're having this discussion is because we won the war. BOOM
Not sure how that's related, but good job living in the past.
