I think its a great idea but would be hard to organize. If we can get 10 people to migrate to ShLoNkYs house for a day or two I'd be more than happy to host a poker game/lan party with benefits going to BoSS. (I am friends with a LOT of strippers and they LOVE doing charity work)

So we are gonna hold a poker tourny? And the winner gets some cash and admin? BoSS benefits from this by getting like half the cash?
Ok Shadow review about the admin...dunno if it would be a good idea. Some tool could win and be admin for 6 months.

But I guess it would be an ok idea. We all get cash ouuta this and it would be fun.

To anyone who has said "why hold a tournament when you could just donate directly to BG" that still is, and always will be an option of course..no one would take that away. Why do it this way? Why do people ever buy those $100 hospital fundraiser draw tickets or lottery tickets in general? Other than being addicts, it's a way to help the community and appeal to the selfish nature of some by also having a chance of winning something. Really, everybody wins.

I wouldn't suggest that someone who plays in an online poker tournament get admin on all BG servers, proceeds would go to an entirely new BG server...let's call it "BG-Poker" for arguement sake. if you take part in the "BG poker tournament" then those who play would get admin on the "BG-Poker" server.

If this is really going to fly though, i think we just need 5 adults willing to spend up to $20/month on a tournament. If interest grows, then so will the proceeds being given to BG. With me obviously being interested, that leaves 4 more. I can arrange to have the tournament created for a few weeks from now and if the turnout is sufficient, then so be it, otherwise, c'est la vie.

you're missing the point somewhere.

a) this obviously is only going to appeal to those who also happen to like poker.

b) it's not throwing $20 away. No poker player would view an entry fee into any tournament where they stand to win money as "throwing it away" even if they lose.
