Billy Pumper: what else you want me to do
Alicia: Thats all.
Billy Pumper: its on
Alicia: Please let me know whether you are able to boot in.
Billy Pumper: ok so we proved i can make my comp work with an ac adapter without the battery what about getting into the bios menu so i can reformat
Alicia: Now please try to power on the notebook with the battery.
Billy Pumper: sigh ok
Billy Pumper: ok its now working like it was (just fine) with the battery
Alicia: Great!
Alicia: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Billy Pumper: yes HOW DO I GET TO THE BIOS MENU so i can get the thing to reboot off of a cd instead of the harddrive so that i can REFORMAT
Alicia: Ok.
Alicia: Please press F2 key to enter into the BIOS.
Billy Pumper: ok ill try it for you
Billy Pumper: do i need to hit fn with f2?
Alicia: No.
Alicia: You have to hit only F2 key.
Billy Pumper: ok i held it down it went f*cking nuts beeping at me and then it booted up windows (what we didn't want it to do) btw i hit F2 and only F2 :)
Alicia: Please try once again just after you reboot the notebook.
Billy Pumper: ok ill try it for like the 4th time but only for you
Billy Pumper: its beeping again
Billy Pumper: ok just beeped at me then booted up windows
Billy Pumper: doesn't seem like we're getting very far :(
Alicia: I see.
Alicia: Please check whether the keys are working properly in windows.
Billy Pumper: ok
Billy Pumper: o yeah they work gr8
Billy Pumper: can we do this through cmdprompt
Alicia: May I know what you want to do through the cmd prompt?
Billy Pumper: is there a way to reformat or get to Bios through
cmd prompt i don't know im out of ideas
Alicia: I am afraid there is no other way to enter into the BIOS.
Billy Pumper: you think maybe i should shoot this peice of sh*t or hit it with a hammer then?
Billy Pumper: any better ideas
Alicia: It seems the issue is with the F2 as other keys are
working fine.
Billy Pumper: no you see F2 is working fine, you mean to say that if something isn't working that the key is simply not working. if it wasn't working it wouldn't beep the hell out of me when i pressed it, it would just boot up silently
Billy Pumper: anymore nuggets of wisdom
Alicia: In this case I can only suggest you to clear the CMOS battery of the notebook.
Alicia: May I know are you familiar with the disassembling of the notebook?
Billy Pumper: what the f*ck does taking the battery out have anything to do with the Bios
Billy Pumper: omfg you want me to void my warenty by taking this b*tch apart
Alicia: The CMOS battery is different from the notebook battery.
Alicia: The CMOS battery keeps all the information of the about the startup programs of the notebook.
Alicia: It is located on the motherboard of the notebook.
Billy Pumper: ok but i don't want to get out any tools for this
Billy Pumper: i'll "clear" anything you want me too since that is my ultimate goal but no taking sh*t apart
Alicia: In this case I suggest you to contact the nearest service center to clear the CMOS battery as it requires disassembling of the notebook.
Alicia: That is all I can suggest you.
Billy Pumper: ok well this was kind of a huge waste of time, you wanna waste some time on the clock and just chat though, where do you live?
Alicia: Thank you for using HP Total Care and giving us an opportunity to serve you through Real-Time Chat. A copy of our chat session will be e-mailed to you shortly. Please contact us again if you require any further assistance. We are available 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.
Alicia: Bye.....
