[S.W.A.T. 2.0]

My first computer game ever was Lucasart's Tie Fighter. Simple, easy to learn, and it came on 6 3.5" diskettes. Today I saw an ad to download the new LotR game's demo. Sweet, I'll try it out. I went to the download page and what do I find? The DEMO is almost 1.4 GIGABYTES! What the hell? Am I supposed to leave my computer on for several days while it downloads? I don't even want to think about how big the entire game is!

They need to find a better way to compress the size of these games/files and such. Pretty soon my whole HDD will be taken up by 2 or 3 games!

ha well i have a 200 gig hardrive and i dont dl stuff, or anything, so im good since games and music, bought music, is all thats on my computer.

dude i get your rant and reprive my own ... freakin had to delete like 8 games last time i did a defrag on my computer.. sh*t i hadn't played in awhile but i would have liked to have had the option without reinstalling..

heres a question for everyone .. whats the biggest game on your pc as of this moment.. probably the whole steam file.. but when i deleted ut2k4 it was freakin over 4 gigs of maps mods etc.. etc.. just curious what is on the rest of your computers..

I got 500G of hd space and i am always running out of space. i have too much sh*t i am going to bye a new sata HD so i can have some new space. considering that one of my hd is nothing but music and it is 60G full of mp3 and what not.

damn thats amazing, maybe your are higher quality i thought i had a lot i have 15 gigs of music and a little under 5,000 songs...none of them legit

the fact they dont compress anything at all anymore. because;
#1 the game takes more CDs, more the price tag goes up.
#2 it is faster and easy to use not-compressed files in game situations..
#3 they have to fill the space in the CD/DVD otherwise, people might start complaining.
#4 bigger the game media, harder to download and use pirate (though 1.4 GB demo is dumb, i have to admit)

while talking about compressing and demos. here is a 64Kb demo. you wouldnt believe it is 64Kb after seeing it. just try it.

with my 2 computers networked.. i have 1030 gigabytes.. so a little bit over a terabyte.. my computer has 320 gigabytes.. and yeah the other one (my dads) has 710 gigabytes lol.. dizzam... but yeah dude i know what you are saying.. they really make games inefficient nowadays.. its annoying man.. kotor is like almost 5 gigs.. and that has no downloaded content or anything like steam.. but yeah that demo.. i downloaded that.. only took me a couple of hours (or a bit less), because of my uber fast connection

ok.. just had a thought do you guys think that the game companies do this on purpose as to make pirating games harder? or do you think because of this it is easier to pirate games..?? just wondering what others opinions on that thought would be..
