Hey everyone! I'm getting a job this summer(yay for me!) and I'm planning on upgrading a sh*tload of stuff. I already got mah new graphics card and know which PSU im getting. But I want to upgrade some more stuff. Here are my specs and see what you think can make it better.
1. AU31 mobo(never heard of em)
2. 160GB HDD
3.AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2GHZ
4. GeForce 6600 256MB AGP
5. Bestec 300W PSU(getting Fortron 400W) 6. 2 sticks 512 MB DDR SDRAM

Thanks guys, oh and im planning on getting Oblivion soon so I wanted to know what you guys thought would help boost the performance a bit. P.S. Im on a budget!!!! $400 [u]MAX

If your on a budget, there's really not much to say. You get what you can afford.

Well, for $400 for all that, I can't really think of much better. Cept maybe a saving a little extra for a 7800gt. You can get them for like $270ish. And are much better then a 6800.

best would say to save up your money for some better upgrades. that processor's gunna run alotta apps slower than say a 3700+ or 3800+. a gig of ram is fine.. i wouldn't go agp but i guess its ur budget. there are alot of decent pci-e cards out there that are decently priced. just saying this b.c if you getting a new mobo, might as well not buy old technology. You can't build a solid gaming computer w/400 bucks and if you try you're gunna regret it.

Graphics card is very important. If you have a sh*t videocard, dont bother getting a better processor.

Oh and btw, my PSU is right above the fan that hooks to the top of my Processor. And the fan gives my PSU a little more than half an inch of space. Will I be able to get the PSU out without having to remove that fan?
