Alright Ive finally come to the point where I am going to build my own computer. I went around scouting what i should buy and here is my list. Please if you think something is a little weak, will be out of date, or you now something better reply to clue me, Thxs.

Also my goal is to spend under $1500 if possible including shipping and tax.

CoolMaster Stacker STC-T01-UW ATX full tower $158.50
ABIT SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD motherboard $134.99
AMD Athlon 64 4000+ 1Ghz HT Socket 939 $334.00 or the AMD Athlon 64 X2 1Ghz HT Socket 939 $355.00
Corsair XMS 2GB 184 pin DDR 400 (PC 3200) $189.00
Antec True Power 2.0 550W $99.99
CD Rom/Burner im taking from my Dell computer
DVD Rom/Burner im taking from my Dell computer
My harddrive which is a 160 GB taking from my Dell computer
and the I/O cards im taking
My video card is a BFG 6600 GT PCI-Express and ill probably buy another and SLI them $188.99 (newegg seems not to have them in stock so i might get a new one don't know)

And after all that i have about $400 for fans or whatever other parts I dont have or scrapping from the Dell wont work. So i probably have a $500 dollar headway for buying a better processor maybe. The FX-57 looked nice but I think I might go with the dual core becuase I do a lot of photo editing and video editing in addition to gaming.

Feedback wanted!
Shlonky I need help.

1) definately go dual core, you won't regret it.
2) for memory, get some lower latency ram, heres some OCZ thats $141 after 50$ mail-in: http://www.zipzoomfl...de=85201&ps=ho3
3) thats alot of money for a tower in my opinion
4) the 6600's in sli arent as good as an x1800xl i dont think and those go for a lil over 300 nowadays..

maybe reconsider some of these things. and also check out that site that the memory is on, zipzoomfly.com it has the same psu as you listed for 92$ free shipping and handeling.

this will pwn 6600's in sli only 290 w/shipping

Two 6600's in sli is not the answer. Get an awsome card now... and then get another one and go SLI or Crossfire when you have the $.

I agree with the motherboard, and that better be one fire tower for $150. Hell I only paid $50 for mine.

IMO, the x2 4400+ is the best bang for the buck. Its 2.2ghz but its the cheapest chip w/1mb of L2 cache on each core. All the higher priced dual cores for amd dont have more than 1mb of L2 cache, only intel has 2mb L2 cache at the moment on the dual cores.. which amd should catchup pretttty damn soon I hope.

New List

CoolMaster Stacker STC-T01-UW ATX full tower $158.50
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLIT ATX AMD $159.99
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo 1Ghz HT Socket 939 Processor $355.00
Corsair XMS 2GB 184 pin DDR 400 (PC 3200) (im going to go with Corsair) $189.00
Antec True Power 2.0 550W $99.99
CD Rom/Burner im taking from my Dell computer
DVD Rom/Burner im taking from my Dell computer
My harddrive which is a 160 GB taking from my Dell computer
and the I/O cards im taking
Staying with my videocard as of right now and saving for something better.
+___________
Grand Total $965.00

I heard good things about Corsair so i think I am going to stick with them, but that will probably be one of the later things i buy in case i change my mind. Dont really know yet.

$965.00 isn't bad for a new comp that i can upgrade for awhile with the 939 socket and there is more then enough room in the tower becuase it is quite beastly, for me to work in and add new things easily.
Although I am not really considering fans, thermal paste, a heatsink or heatsink fan for my Processor, and im sure there is other stuff so my real estimate is for the total cost i think will be about $1200.

Sounds like a solid computer.. just a couple more things. the x2 4400+ runs for around 450 not 350. Fans, you can spend about 50 bucks on; i wouldnt spend anything more. thermal paste: 10 bucks but sometimes comes with a new processor. Aftermarket heatsink+fan = 60 bucks for one of the top end models so yeah you're prolly gunna look in the ballpark of 1200ish

Do you really need a full tower though? Are you really going to need space for 7 drives? Is there something really large your going to need space for inside the computer?

I plan after this computer dies or gets to old to build another one in the same case. I will probably use the same case for some years after this one. There is room for expansion and for real reasons why just look at how big videocards and sh*t is getting. Stuff is gradually increasing in size. I don't want to have to spend more money later so i am spending it now when i can and have the money.

*Update on whats happening with the Dell. The tech guy came out and replaced the power supply and really not to my suprise the thing still didnt work. Stripped it down to the bare minimum of processor and mobo so it is one of those two. My dreams of getting a brank spanking new computer were dashed because he ordered the parts for both so I am getting a brand new mobo or processor or possibly both. I will keep you guys updated with my adventure with Dell.
