Free from my Uncle when he upgraded:

286 sx 20
1 mb Ram (lol DIMMS)
40 MB 5 1/4" HD that sounded like it was scratching the data onto the disk
3 1/2 " floppy drive
5 1/4" floppy drive
512k Trident video card 8-bit
MS-Dos 5.22 I think (does it really matter, it was oooooooold)

First new one we bought after I did some upgrades to the 286 (386 DX/40 4MB and then 486 DX2/66 16MB) over a few years:
Pentium 166
8 Megs Ram
1MB Diamond Video card
4x CD-Rom
2 GB Hard drive
Win 95a (oh yes, the bad one)

486 dxII 50mhz 4mb ram (later upgraded to 8 for $250) soundcard, 2x cd rom 540mb HDD.

My family got this when the dxII 66 mhz machine was the fastest you could get. Price= $2200.

Bypass Windows 3.11, and run from DOS; she would play Doom II ALL DAY. haha!

First machine I built was a 1 Ghz Athlon.......

hehe I had several macs (I know, OFF WITH HIS HEAD!), before I got any PC. I don't remember much about them, except when I upgraded from 14.4kbit to 28.8kbit (It feels so fast!).. First PC I had was something like this;
Pentium 133 MHz
32 (later upgraded to 64) megs of ram
1.2 gig HD (no clue what brand or rpm, but it was loud)
1meg software rendering video card.(not sure on this one)
Windows 3.11, later Win 95
and a 14" screen. :kill:

The amazing thing is, I still have this comp in a closet somewhere in Sweden. And it STILL runs! That HD is so sturdy, it's over 7 years old, and still churning :20:
