Shennanagans on your parents half ton hauling 3.5 tons. The only way that will happen is if you bottom out the leaf springs and bend the sh*t out of the axel. The Vortec will haul it but the truck wont.

Great thread! I race on the weekends (1/4 mi), so cars are a big part of my life. Currently I'm driving a 2004 Ford Mustang Cobra in Silver...32V 4.6L DOHC Modular V8, Tremec T-56 6 speed trans

Mods:

Whipple 2.3 Litre Twin Screw Supercharger @ 18psi (yeah, my supercharger has more displacement then most ricer engines) :20:
60 lb/hr Fuel Injectors
SCT Mass Air Meter
Dual Focus Fuel Pumps
Accufab Single Blade Throttle Body
Autometer Boost & Fuel Pressure Gauges
JDM CAI (Jim DiAmore, not "Japanese Domestic Motors")
Superchips Custom Tuning Switch Chip
UPR Off Road Catless X-pipe
Magnaflow Cat Back Exhaust
QA1 Rear Drag Shocks
JDM Pinion Snubber
Billetflow IRS Brace
Level 5 DSS Half Shafts (good up to 900 rwhp)
MGW Short Throw Shifter
Nitto NT555R Drag Radials for the street
Hoosier Drag Slicks for the track

622 rear wheel horsepower, 570 rear wheel torque on pump gas (race fuel tune about 20 more hp)

This is my daily driver.

JDM is "JDM Engineering." They are a performance shop in Central New Jersey that sepcializes in Ford Lightnings and Mustangs.

They just developed this pinion snubber for '03-'04 Cobras with Independent Rear Suspension. (IRS) It strengthens the IRS to prevent catastrophic failure under the extreme stress of drag launches.
