Yeah it's pretty retarded, they just didn't realize how much the messed up with DWP. Sh*t was so great back in the days before Steam and Valve.

Valve developed Half-Life, perhaps the best game of all times. So the days before Valve were not that great. But the days before Steam, I will agree with you on. That program fucked more things up than it fixed. I think the program was released along with CS 1.6. Which coincidentally is a really shitty version of CS that has been the current version for over 2 years... 
Valve have been doing stupid things since the release of Source. I wish CS would have stayed an independent mod, I really do.
