Just kidding assholes.

I bought an Asus X1950 Pro for $250 CDN ($200 USD).

The pro is quite a bit cheaper than the 1900xt, but still performs very well. A good, bang for your buck card, that is still significantly better than my x800.

Suck it Nvidia Fanboys! lol

Nice... except i don't see the reason for you to get a new one.. the x800 is ok.. i mean getting another dx9 card is kinda useless.. should have just waited for the r600 to come out, and some other dx10 cards to come out and become cheaper.. upgrading from an ok card that will pretty much run everything that's out right now, to a better card that has the same exact technologies, but just somewhat faster is kind of useless imo..

but for $200 i guess it's a pretty good deal...

Yeah, I was making fun of Nvidia fanboyz.

I wanted one... NOW. lol. Why wait (or get an 8800 or R600 for huge $), when I can buy one now, and probably buy a dx10 card in the summer or next winter, when I will most likely be using vista anyways.

anyways, the x1950 pro isn't using the same technologies. It has the rv570 core, pixel shader 3.0, high definition output, and native crossfire master support.

The asus card I bought is factory overclocked, thanks to the heatpipe cooler that deviates from the ati reference.

Oh, BTW, the x1950 pro does roughly twice as good as the X800 GTO (My current card) in benchmarks.

Thats nice, I like those cards even though I have a 7900GT. Chris82 says that the pro series sucks though......

I take Chris' hardware opinions and invert them.

The 7900 GT and this one are in direct competition. The x1950 pro is a tad cheaper (usually about $20), and is better and worse than the 7900 GT, depending on the game.

Oh, I chose ATI because their cards support full AA & AF WITH HDR, something that the 7900 GT can't do (I'm pretty sure of this, correct me if I'm wrong).

x1800xt is quite a bit faster than that card isnt it??

The X1950 pro is actually a bit faster that the x1800 xt (at least in source games). Besides, I couldn't find any other X19.. series card that came close to this performance for that price.

In certian games, yes. I remember I couldnt with oblivion, but it works fine on source.

Is ist true that they no longer make 1950 XTX's? I heard from a couple people on this forum that it isn<t in circulation anymore.... Howcome?

Other then that I'm happy for you if you like your card you have now and I think I'm planning on doing the same thing. I got a card recently and when Vista and DX10 comes out I'll get a new one later on.

So I have a question.. What power supply are you running monster?

I'm shopping for one of these right now.. this is the power supply I have currently.

http://www.tr2tt.com...970/w006970.htm

It says that the 1950 requires a 450-watt power supply with 30A current on a 12V rail. I've looked as high as 850Watt power supplies and even then, they only offer 18A on a 12V rail.. WTF ?

See this beastly power supply info.. only 18A on a 12V rail.. of course it has like 4 12V rails.. and its ATI Crossfire certified..

I have an Enermax 535W EG565AX-VE FMA II

It's been good to me so far. It has 22a on each 12v rail.

Anyways, it uses less power than you think. The x1950 pro is based on the r570 chip. I don't have the specs on me, but it's quite a bit more efficient than the x1950xt series as far as power consumption and heat goes.

remember, directcanada.com has them for $220 + $9 air shipping, a steal imo.

Thanks Monster.. I hope my power supply will handle it, if not then I'll get something else I guess.

I don't see any on direct canada that are in stock for that price.. I can get this one (256mb one) for $250 locally so I may go that route.

30A on a 12V is 360W.. If the card needs that much power, there's a HUGE problem. I think they mean combined (dual 16A 12V rails is fine)

Great cards, though. 1950pros and 7900gts are really close. I'd take the nvidia for gaming due to OCing ability (although the new 1950 pros are getting better) but the ati can fold.. oh decisions!
