So I got my core2 system running sans video card (which is at the big ATI in the sky until I get it back fixed..)

My RAM didn't run at rated speeds of DDR2-1000 at any voltage.. I check the SPD chips through CPU-Z and find this

Sticks have heatspreaders, but what PCB is showing look identical..

3 flashing red lights on the controller/status ring. It's the 360's "Hardware Failure" code. Since it's one of the earlier 360's it was inevitable, but still annoying.

I have a first model 360 and mine's running strong.

Hell, I had a first model Genesis, PSX and PS2. None of them broke, except for the PS2 when I yanked it off my stand. Wireless controllers ftw.

yeah, mine was working fine until someone knocked it over. Then it just got progressively worse when I brought it home from school and then back here again..


on the memory front, b*tched to NewEgg. full refund. Getting some G.Skills with Promos chips instead of the geil with elipidas. Promos are hard to overclock, but can usually get 1.2GHz + if you're careful with volteage. :D They run cooler than D9s, too!

Good choice on the new rams. As for your 360, if you bought it less than a year ago, call em up. They will send you out a box, you pack it up, send it back free of charge, they send you a new one free of charge. Happened to mine a while back, the return process was very painless and it took 2 weeks which isnt half bad for a return.

yeah, I was on the phone with ms ~ 10 minutes after it died. Just awaiting the box... CPU cooler (thermalright ultra-120) comes tomorrow... Hopefully I'll have time to play with it.

New mem is awesome... Then my PSU died (antec squeeling death (aka about to burst into flames)).. Back to my old enermax. Can't OC or it won't boot due to over-power.... Now I just need to get a new PSU..... :(
