I keep getting that message in the console and my ping goes up to 500.

It probably means that those packets aren't going through and that's where your lag is coming from.

lame, I just reinstalled steam, along with css, still doesn't work! It doesn't give that weird message in the console anymore, but my ping goes up to 300, and I teleport all over the map when I move!

it's probably your ISP, i've been having the same problems, outside of gaming my internet runs so-so, then it might stop working all together, ingame no matter what my ping is 200+.
turns out a tree branch slammed the internet box behind our house and water got into it screwing it all up, charter has been out here 6 times and it's still f*cked, so i'm aiming to get 2 months free from the f*cks.
so yeah, call your ISP provider if you are having that much packet loss.
