Before you say, "try steampowered.com".. already did. There was no help there for my problem.

Ok, guys here is my problem:

I start up CS:S, go to 'create server' and a few seconds later get an error message that reads, "error: unable to load authentication library"... then CS:S shuts down.



I can get on every server I try and even run a dedicated server but I cannot load up my created server and do anything. The main reason that I liked the created server was that I was able to test/play new custom maps either alone or with bots and now..... zip.

Just hoping that someone else here had the problem and was able to fix it or knows how.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, more than likely something got corrupted in your CS directory or maybe in the registry. I say just reinstall.

Yeah... didn't want to have to reinstall but, it looks like that's my only alternative. Aww well, screw it. Clean install it is.

1.Re-installed. Didn't work, still. BRoke/smashed my disks with a hammer and set them on fire.
2. Bought a new copy of CS:Source.
3. Uninstalled the old one and all the sub-folders (everything).
4.Installed the new copy. Still doesn't work.

The next step is to find turtlerock studios and hide in the bushes with a real sniper rifle. f*ck THE WORLD.

When you uninstalled, did you delete all remnants of the old version, including the registry stuff?

I had the same problem for awhile, but then it just stopped... when you reinstalled css it should have fixed everything... did you go into steam and say delete local game content, and then go in the steam folder and delete your Counter Strike Source folder in SteamApps?

Thats what I use and have never had a problem. Follow the instructions there and look in the forums for more info. Also, its easier to install mani and other mods this way.

New STEAM update said something about fixing LAN server crashes... see if it works now.

Yeah, deleted everything before the new install. CS:Source (at walmart) is ony $29.00 - I am going to try the srcdsthing. Hope that works cause I can't even open up maps tha my friends are making in "hammer editor" or anything.
