I hear people ranting and raving about how great the Arcade Fire are all the time, but I just don't understand why people like them so much.

They're supposedly unique and "indie," but I don't see the appeal. The fact that they're constantly changing instruments gives the album (I listened to Neon Bible) a disjointed feel.

The same goes for Five Iron Frenzy and The Mars Volta--I simply can't understand why people consider them so great. I've listened to several Mars Volta albums and haven't liked a single one, and I've heard plenty of Five Iron Frenzy. What is it that makes people rant and rave about them?

I ask because I just don't understand, not because I'm trying to trash anyone's favorites.

I like the arcade fire. I am not going to rave about them, but I like them. At the drive in should have stayed together, because that was much better than the mars volta or sparta will ever be.

Mars Volta had one good song. Period.

The Arcade Fire? lawls... oh my dear christ. When someone rants/raves about said band... punch them. They'll understand one day.

I like the Mars Volta... Francis the Mute is a really solid album. I'm more of a "listen to the whole album" type when I listen to music.

I loved Arcade Fire's first album, but Neon Bible was pure crap. So whiney and boring.
Mars Volta had some good earlier stuff, their Live Album sucked so bad.
And Five Iron Frenzy was radical 8 years ago.
