I have an older ide hard drive that use to be in an external case. A dipsh*t friend of mine that I let borrow it left it in his truck for 5 days in the heat. Now it just makes a clicking noise. Anyone have any suggestions aside from throwing it in the trash?

If you can read it, BACK IT UP.

Get as much off of it as possible, but clicking is bad. It could go 3 years from now, or 3 minutes after you start backing up, but it is guaranteed to fail now.

WIndows won't read the drive. I'm not worried about any data currently on it, i just want to be able to use it again.

I found a better use for it. I was on my 4th floor balcony yesterday evening watching my neighboer walk up to the front of the building and tossed it off the side landing about ten feet from him. He was nice enough to shout some choice words and clean up the mess for me. I owed the motherf*cker one seeing as he was talking sh*t about me being a geek when he stopped by the other week when I was building my new pc. That's when you know you're hardcore, f*ck a gun, i'm brain'n niggas with harddrives.
