Pretty much, anything over a month is way too old.
And it's really not the fact that the topics are old that bothers most of us, it's the fact that the posts in the old topics are some no brained 1 liner along the lines of, "That's cool," or, "Yeah I like {Insert Topic}."
If you bring up an old topic, be sure to make it a damned good post, though that's hard as most people only bring up the old shitty threads that just needed to die anyway.
