I'm pretty sure it's all 3d animated. There are parts where you know it's animated and others where you ask, "Is this real?" Even though the reviews for the movies are pretty good I'd say this movie is sort of an iffy.

I saw the trailer and most of it looks animated. They could have at least tried to blend the cgi with the actors like 300. In steed of animating the actors. I was looking forward to this, just because it looked like a viking movie.

1) Never go into a movie based off of a book with the expectation that the movie will be anything remotely like the book. Hollywood has proven over and over again that they can f*ck up pretty much any story especially old classics. Just think of every Shakspeare play that was converted to the movies, the Odyssey, Troy, any Dr. Seuss that he was not alive to oversee the creation of the movie, virtually every Disney movie, the list goes on and on and on.

2) It wasn't exactly CGI, just rendering like Zemeckis has done before. Furthermore, if they had only done CGI in the scenes that desperately needed it (AKA virtually every fight scene), the movie would have been pathetic, like the CGI in the second and third Matrix movies. And it kind of fixed Jolie's f*cked up mouth a little bit.

3) Angelina nearly naked for every scene she was in ftw.

Seriously, I wasn't very impressed with the movie, but if you are bored as hell and don't have to spend any money to see it, Beowulf isn't that horrible. I went to it with no expectations and enjoyed the movie. And yes, I have read the original and they are nothing alike, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some mindless, fantasy action sh*t.

You guys are tough critics considering you all play video games with retarded plots with enough holes to sink the titanic (ok, bad analogy, it doesn't take very many holes to sink the titanic). I guess the difference is that you aren't the one in control of the mindless bloodshed in the theaters.

saw it in digital 3d 2nite. the only reason it was passable was because it was in 3d. and there were some amazing fights/moments where it really looked real.
