the OS? there is nothing special or better on Mac OSX at all, and if you think it can outperform XP, well, lets just say the OS is made for those mentally challenged Latte' Sipping faggots.
Widgets? Are you seriously going to compare operating systems and go into detail about fucking widgets...

please find me a machine that is the same specs for a decent price. I dont mind paying a slight premium for osX, but the hardware of my machine it not overpriced.
A few of their machine are a bit much. The 20" iMac is a bit much. the 24" isnt nearly as bad because of the screen.
The Macbook is a GREAT deal, as is the Air compared to other small laptops.
Dave
PS - as for osX being better? I dont really believe that. Somethings it can handle better, others it cant. Having it handle 32gb memory is nice. However it is quite a memory hog. osX can be as simple as anything out there, but it can also be as complex as anything else. It depends what you want to do with it.

Intel C2D E6850 $269.99
BFG nVidia 680i mobo $189.99
Western Digital 640GB sata3 HD $129.99
ATi Radeon HD3870 x2 1GB $439.99 <-- beats the shit out of the 8800 fyi
4GB OCZ Ram $95.99
Apevia 680w PSU $129.99
Really shiny CoolerMaster case $189.99
Lite-on DVD-R/ROM/+RW/etc... $32.99
Creative X-Fi soundcard $135.99
7.1 Surround speakers $79.99
Acer 22'' Widescreen monitor $229.99
Zalman CPU cooler $41.99
Logitech G15 keyboard $89.99
Logitech G5 mouse $49.99
Windows XP Pro OEM $139.99
Not including shipping that comes to around $2256 roughly, and you could easily upgrade the processor, double the ram, and add another hard drive and still be below $2,900.

you will be able to build a nice computer, but you wont build something similar. thats my point. I would say it would be damn hard to build a comparable computer for less. Then again the Mac Pro isnt designed to be used by consumers. Its quite overkill for what i use it for.
* Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core) 1600MHz dual independent frontside buses, 12MB of L2 cache per processor
* 6GB (2 x 2GB) (2 x 1gb) 800MHz DDR2 fully buffered ECC
* 74gb 10000-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* 320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB (Two dual-link DVI)
* One 16x SuperDrive
* AirPort Extreme card (Wi-Fi)

Thats the difference, try to make a machine that is comparable to the MP.
The problem with their line up is that there is no mid machine. Its either an all in 1 iMac or the overpowered Mac Pro.
Dave
example. There are 2 of these in the MP

EDIT #2: thats not even including the monitor. But then again a 24" SIPS Monitor is generally 750$+

the 24" iMac isnt that bad considering its a 750$+ monitor.

Nice triple post. Use edit butan.
But ok so for those two processors it's $1486.
Add $200 for the 8GB of RAM
Add $260 for the 1.2TB of 7200RPM hard drives
Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon $1486
Two Western Digital 640GB sata3 HD $259.98
Western Digital 74GB 10000 rpm $150
nVidia 8800GT $239.99
2x4GB OCZ Ram $191.98
Lite-on 20x DVD-R/ROM/+RW/etc... $32.99
Comparing that to what you listed for the specs, is less, and would still be less if you threw in a wi-fi card. Plus with this setup you're getting more RAM.
The reason the iMac isn't a good computer isn't it's cost; it's the fact that it costs what it does and you can't upgrade it.

Ill agree with that.
memory is closer to 2x http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820146760
Here is an example of a mobo (i have always personally liked Asus) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813131250
So adding ~310$ to your above listing brings it to around 2650$. Throw in mobo, wifi, BT, Sound Card, Keyboard (not mouse, who uses that crap), heatsinks if you want to replace stock, any software and you are already over the cost.
Like I said. You can make a good machine for less, can you make something comparable? no not really.
I still enjoy building my own machines. It just got to a point that I wanted something a bit more powerful without having to deal with any of the tweaks associated with building your own machine. Remember that stupid issue you had with your latest machine? I just didnt want to deal with that anymore. I have built my own comps for the last 10+ years. There are always those annoying as sh*t issues.
Just think how in a year I will be able to turn around and sell my machine for 2.5k.
Dave
Sleep time, already past bedtime. lol
Edit: One cool thing I find with this machine is that while beating on it the CPU temps (both A and B) never go above 28 degrees celsius.

oh and not to mention lack of matching sticks = No dual channel. 2x1gb or 2x2gb and so on, never 2x 1gb w/ 1x 2gb.

That issue was more like stupidity on my part but yeah, building you own PC is the best because you have the most control with what you do.

Responding to your earlier post zek, yea I know there are plenty of bullsh*t companies, i just want some one to do something new. Maybe this is asking too much, since i know NOTHING about computers, well, i know how to use google, and thats about it.

I think the price can be justified by the hardware, we have now seen that. The question is of personal opinion whether it is smart to spend that much on a PC. Its funny because yall look at me and think its crazy, while I still look at other MP users who have raided 4TB HDD and 16+gb of memory and think they are crazy.
Back on topic. I think that biggest thing drawing this crowd away from buying Mac desktops is the lack of customization for a reasonable price. Their line up has a hole where most other higher end consumer desktops go. Mac Mini = small and cheap. Next is the iMac which is a nice all in one for family and everyday use. There is no normal desktop that can be upgraded etc... If you want that option then you much drop the big money for the MP.

Back to the original topic tho, I personally am with the idea if it aint broke don't fix it. I would much rather have a sweet nice car for 10 years drive that b*tch around even though it looks the same and if it's realiable, I'm a happy camper. Subsequently, I would hate to buy a new f*ckin car every 2-3 years because I was tired of the old one and get one that has new problems and unwanted bullsh*t. I see an analogy here..

Then you can use this tutorial to install Kalyway 10.5.1 distribution it if you want.

Now, pick the ones you like the best. Of ccourse each has it own strengths and weaknesses. For those who likes to write your own programs and less gaming with freesource stuff, i recommend linux/ubuntu. After all, the top super computers in the world runs on linux.
