Not bad considering its ONE card. It was amazing the diffrence in the grahpics to me. As stonedhatter said, the grahpics look more crips, and they do. The colors are more realistic and it smokes the hell out of my old pair of 8800 gts cards (obviously). The funy thing to me is the windows score went from 7.1 in the system info to 6.0 with the 5870. lol @ microsoft..

Oh and its kinda sad in any hl2 based game... max fps in cs source all the time unless a ton of smoke is thrown. Gonna instal farcry 2 and see how she runs. :)

Ok did a OC on the i7 860 to 3.885 ghz and the 5870 to 900/1300 (the max overdrive would go). Everything was running fine and i did another vantage run.
cpu score was alot higher obviously but the gpu wasnt much higher.

I've never had an issue with the noises of fans. It could be as loud as a f*cking nuclear bomb and I wouldn't have an issue... Well, maybe...

Im debating on getting a second one.... only the newest games im playing puts a dent in this card though
I can play any game i throw at this card at 1920x1200. I don't see how anyone could need a second one of these cards unless they had a ridiculous eyefinity setup or were using a 30" monitor.

HUGE waste of money, spending another $400 on an unnecessary card for a 37% (Score with 2x/Score with 1x) boost in vantage score. If you were planning on dumping that much cash on overkill graphics (1 5870 is plenty) you should have gotten a 5970 and called it a day.

I read that whole article in kuwait when it came out and yes while the 5970 is almost identicle to dual 5870's you are forgetting power consumption and especially temperatures. Yeh its like $100 less than two 5870's but id perfer having two cards with two heatsinks cooling instead of a massive 13 inch card or whatever with one heat sink cooling it. Dont think there is any difference in power but when im playing games that dont require dual gpu setups (ie WoW) it has the 2nd card in low power mode, im pretty sure that the 5970 does the same with its dual gpus but i dont know. I still have two heatsinks cooling were ya only got one with the 5970. I dont think its a huge waste to get two 5870's over a 5970. I bought this hardware for this monster case for a reason, basically, its what i wanted, but also for future possibilities I could get like 3 more screens if i wanted to for eye infinity or some crap... The nice thing is that I wont have to worry about building another pc for a looong time. If im not mistaken isnt the 5970 designed for mid sized cases that have issues with dual gpus? Not for sure... Anyway im dong with this pc and i aint touchin a damn thing till its 5 years older :P

As far as temperature, TBQH, having two seperate cards or one card with two GPU's it's going to generate pretty much the same amount of heat. Only difference with the 5970, you have room to install a PCI slot cooler or a directional fan to get better airflow to it. Or install multiple expansion cards, I like my 12 port SATA controller card, I need the 16 ports for my 14 x 2 terabyte drives :P As you can see with two 5870's, that's somewhat difficult to do :P
Yes the 5970 will be a few degrees warmer at high load, but TBQH it isn't going to be enough to warrant a OMG it's too hot!!!! My 4850x2 runs 4 degrees warmer than two seperate 4850's in crossfire, so whoop dee freakin doo.
The 400$ would have been better spent in the bankz generating interest so you can buy the next gen ATI card when and if Fermi get's released this year. We all know ATI is going to throw something out or cut prices to directly compete with nVidia's Fermi :P
