If it's down to a chicken egg vs a chicken, then chicken egg. DNA doesn't change for a whole species after it's an egg so it wouldn't have "become" a chicken during its life. It could only have chicken DNA starting from the egg (since a full chick comes out of said egg).... I think...makes sense to me, at least.
