if there is a movie out, there is no reason to read the book.

I would rather experience it the way the author intended, then the over the top sh*ty Hollywood version.

Honestly, who in their right minds sees a movie preview and thinks, "Damn, I'm going to go read the book that movie was based on"?

It's based on a "graphic novel" not a "regular novel" so you basically ownd yourself by reading that book. That's kinda like reading a book about 300 after 300 came out.

This movie looks sweet.

What? Sometimes you can get more enjoyment when reading a book. I saw The Fellowship of the Ring before I started reading the Lord of the Rings series. I'm glad that I read the books. They were a lot better than the movies. Graphic novels are something different though.

I'm 50/50 on this one. From the trailers I've seen on TV and the ones I unearthed a few months ago... it looks like it may be on the corny side. "Van Helsing" like even.

Van Helsing was the corniest movie I've seen in a couple years. My ex-roommate said, "It wasn't that bad," before we saw it. I remember saying, "You son of a b*tch. A least tell me it's almost over," about half way through it.

Decent CGI does not make a good movie. This movie seems to follow the same "we have decent CGI" promise I was given with Helsing.

At least Vampires had a drunken James Woods in it.

f*ck Corey Feldman.

I can't wait for "I am Legend." So on that note, f*ck Will Smith too. A black man playing an overly white character. :whatever:

lulz, no. I meant the character was meant to be white, not a black guy playing an overly white role. It's an adaptation of a Vampire book set in Chicago's suburbs in the '70s now set in present day Manhattan. I guess they should have had John Stewart do it and made the character Jewish.

Holy sh*t, you're right... and way to be the only other person I know to have read that book.

For some reason I always thought it mentioned Chicago. Guess it's time to reread it.
